Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 June 2026
Truki (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides an HGV navigation and route planning app for UK drivers. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data when you use the Truki app, this website, and related services.
Truki is an early-stage product. Our services, features and data practices may change as the product develops. We will update this policy when material changes are made.
Who we are
Truki is operated from the United Kingdom. For privacy questions, contact us at support@truki.co.uk.
Information we may process
Depending on how you use Truki, we may process the following categories of information:
- Route requests and navigation data — origins, destinations, waypoints, planned routes and related journey information.
- Vehicle profile information — dimensions, weight, vehicle type and other HGV profile settings you provide.
- Approximate or precise location data — where required to calculate routes, provide guidance, or support navigation features.
- Driver reports and route feedback — reports about unsuitable roads, restrictions, route quality and community intelligence you submit.
- App diagnostics and technical data — device type, app version, crash logs, performance data and similar technical information used to improve reliability.
- Account and contact information — if you register, join a beta, or contact support (for example name, email address or TestFlight details).
- Website usage data — basic technical information when you visit truki.co.uk, such as browser type, pages viewed and referral source.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide HGV-safe routing, vehicle-aware planning and multi-drop journey support.
- Display navigation guidance and route-related warnings.
- Process driver reports and route feedback to improve routing intelligence and product quality.
- Maintain, secure, debug and improve the app and website.
- Respond to support requests and communicate about beta access or service updates.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, users and the public.
Routing and third-party services
Routing is powered using third-party services, including the TomTom API and other road, mapping or restriction data providers. When you request a route, relevant journey and vehicle information may be sent to these providers so routing can be calculated.
Third-party providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We select providers that are appropriate for mapping and routing services, but we do not control their independent processing activities.
Driver reports and product improvement
We may use driver reports, restriction warnings and post-journey route feedback to improve Truki’s routing intelligence, restriction awareness and overall product quality. Where possible, feedback is used in a way that supports safer and more suitable HGV routing for the wider driver community.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract — to provide the app and services you request.
- Legitimate interests — to improve routing, maintain security, prevent abuse and develop the product, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — where required for optional features, marketing or certain types of data use.
- Legal obligation — where we must comply with applicable law.
Data sharing
We may share information with:
- Routing, mapping and infrastructure providers (including TomTom).
- Hosting, analytics, crash reporting and customer support providers.
- Professional advisers or authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we take steps intended to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, consistent with UK data protection requirements.
Retention
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, improving routing, resolving disputes, meeting legal requirements and maintaining security. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and how it is used.
Cookies and local storage
This website may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies to:
- Remember your theme preference (light or dark mode).
- Support basic site functionality and performance.
These technologies are used to improve your experience on truki.co.uk. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Clearing site data may reset saved preferences such as theme selection.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, especially for an early-stage product under active development.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability where applicable. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK.
To exercise your rights, contact support@truki.co.uk. We may need to verify your request before responding.
Children
Truki is intended for professional and commercial drivers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of Truki after an update means you accept the revised policy.
